Maleesha, a teen social media influencer from India who aspires to be a model, in her episode from the Channel News Asia documentary series Limitless.
Maleesha was discovered in her slum by an American actor and shortly after skyrocketed to fame online as ‘the Slum Princess’. There was so much natural texture and variety of colour in the footage for me to bring out in this episode, as it follows Maleesha in the slums to her journey to the world of high fashion.
At the same time, in between there was a lot of brown in the environment that I needed to navigate in order to create a sense of separation between the people and other elements. This helped to support the colourful visuals where they appear, such as the Holi Festival where the inhabitants of the slum threw dyes at each other.
