Maerys, a teenager from Bali who has dreams of becoming a professional dancer in Europe, in her episode from the CNA documentary series Limitless.
This profile really resonated with me, as dance is something that I was very much into for years. It’s always wonderful to see someone so hard working and talented in their passion.
Bali’s natural beauty made grading the outside scenes effortless, but what made this episode so fun to grade was the accompanying laser lights and disco ball for the final dance performance show.
It can be tricky when working with such highly saturated lights especially when they are spilling onto one another, as the limitations of the camera sensor sometimes lead to artefacts and hard transitions.
These were issues that I encountered, but ultimately they helped me to identify and strengthen elements of my look creation process to make disco lights always look good.
