Beyond the Corridor is a short film about suspicions brewing about a new neighbour, and what happens when the results of their investigation surprises them…
The grade was about finding the right balance between a comedic caper-like energy and a bit of an unsettling atmosphere of the unknown.
One example was keeping the warmth of the protagonist’s living room from feeling too comfortable, mirroring his unease even in a place he calls home. Outside, in the space between his house and his neighbour, I worked with DP Donovan’s brief to make the lighting bluer than flourescent green to decrease the perception of brightness overall.
In the final scene of the film, as the protagonist life is now in balance again, so too are warm and cool tones to reflect the return of stability in his life.
